Accelerating Into Production

'Pilot Photonics is tackling major challenges in the optical communication industry with its integrated tunable laser assembly (iTLA) and integrated comb laser assembly (iCLA). Its iTLA stands out as the only commercially available solution that offers the combination of wide tuning, nanosecond switching and narrow linewidth, addressing important industry needs and resolving a long-standing industry hurdle. The iCLA emerges as a game-changer, replacing up to four traditional iTLAs with a single device. It offers a compact and efficient solution for optical communications and paves the way for the scalable expansion of coherent transceiver capacity. These flagship products have recently transitioned into early pilot production, through various dedicated wafers, enabled by the JePPIX InPulse pilot line projects. These have provided invaluable support in Pilot’s effort and commitment to bringing cutting-edge innovation to the market.'

Chris McGuinness - JePPIX paperAbstract

The JePPIX InPulse pilot line projects, rooted in the objectives of accelerating InP PIC manufacturing and innovation, present Pilot Photonics with an excellent opportunity to enable a cost-effective transition from multiproject wafers (MPWs) to dedicated wafers with its two partners Smart Photonics and Fraunhofer HHI, two leading European PIC foundries. The chip quantities produced bolster design optimization and preproduction efforts for the company's flagship tunable and comb laser products.
